LIGHTING

What is Lighting?

Lighting that is the deliberate use of light to achieve practical or aesthetic effects. Lighting includes the use of both artificial light sources like lamps and light fixtures, as well as natural illumination by capturing daylight. Lighting can help to create mood and atmosphere on stage. For example, to create a cold, damp jail cell, a lighting designer might use a cool, blue light with a low intensity. Usually, within pantomimes they change the lighting to fit the scenery and mood of the characters.

What is three point Lighting?

Three point lighting is a traditional method for illuminating a subject in a scene with light sources from three distinct positions. The three types of light are key, fill and back light. T

Today in Ivana's lesson we took photos to demonstrate the effects of the three stage lighting. We also used different coloured gel sheets to create different tones from cool to warm. We also learned when and how to use key fill and rim lighting, I personally believe that knowing these skills will help us produce our work to a professional standard. Lighting is very big key to taking successful photographs and videos. You can see how the different techniques are used, within the photos. The photo of Michael he just has the key light and you can see that the other side of his face has a shadow and for example the photo of me I just have a back light so it's very bright.
